The population of Arlington is racially, ethnically, and culturally diverse. More than 40% of the residents are Hispanic/Latino, African-American, Asian or multi-racial. Recent article in Washington post indicates that Arlington County is currently loosing Hispanic/Latino residents to other surrounding counties.
In June 2006, Arlington County (CPHD) and Freddie Mac announced a public/private collaboration to enhance the current EAH program to residents of Arlington County to include new and innovative special mortgage products, technology to determine borrower's readiness, homebuyer education , financial literacy, and discounts on selected properties from participating residential developers.
There are currently 7 major employers participating in the program, however there are many major employers that are located in Arlington County that are not taking advantage of this unique opportunity to address the significant needs of their employees in achieving affordable housing through home ownership in close proximity of their workplace. |
